• Jokes: Everyone being serious all the time is the soul killer, it's important to laugh!!! Chill out for three seconds, eternity isn't going anywhere!!! Khazael loves stupid jokes of all kinds, from puns to pranks and anything in between. Do those jokes and pranks sometimes get out of hand? Perhaps. But he hates seeing people (furries) sad or upset and the easiest cure is making a joke so bad they get mad at him instead. Also he uses it for deflecting and avoiding any topics he doesn't want to talk about, that might be important to add.


• Gratitude: Being a reaper is kind of a thankless job, you know?? He shows up to ferry your immortal soul to the afterlife and instead of "wow, Khazael, you're so cool and punctual" or "thanks, Khazael, for stopping that demon from eating me and ending the cycle of my existence for all eternity" all he typically gets is sobbing or anger. He can't really BLAME them, of course, but it's still draining, and is probably why gratitude from mortals especially sticks with him. What a wonderful warm fuzzy feeling he would probably experience more if he was less of an twat but who said that.
  
  
• Mortal Trends: Mortals change so fast it can be hard to keep track of, but it's always fun to see how their taste in things like fashion and media change and technology evolves. Khazael doesn't bother trying to follow fashion trends when reaper robes never go out of style, but sometimes he like to dabble (mostly by "borrowing" Xai's clothes) and collect things that seem big at the time. The rise of amusement parks and movies were particularly exciting and there's so many foods that he hopes are never lost to time. Mortals are really fun, he likes them when he doesn't have to watch them die.


• Freedom: He looooves being able to do whatever he wants whenever he wants and there is nothing more annoying than regulations or being given orders that hinder that. He's not great in heavily structured environments and being given a list of guidelines feels more like a to do list of rules to break. While he does take his job seriously, it's nearly just as important that he doesn't feel tied down by anything and can still make choices on his own. It's just a shame all his choices tend to suck.

Dislikes

• Confrontation: He hates arguing, he hates fighting, and he'd really prefer not to be in a situation where people (furries) are mad in general. Deflecting and sliding away is his favorite solution to that kind of scenario, and good luck pinning him down once he wants out because he is never above using his reaper abilities to phase through anything to escape once it gets dicey. Will he defend himself if needed? Yes. Would he prefer not to and hope it all blows over while he's gone? Absolutely.


• Heavy Conversation: Is there anything more mortifying than laying your soul bare to someone else? Absolutely not, Khazael is checking out immediately. Serious topics and even just emotionally heavy ones put him on edge. He's just supposed to be that silly annoying guy over there that no one takes seriously, ok? Comic relief? Please don't expect deep heart to hearts from him, he's messed up so much recently that talking about it makes it uncomfortably real and, even worse, force him to admit that he doesn't know how to fix anything. Light conversations here only, pal, how's that weather looking?
  
  
• Being Feared: Remember the gratitude section? Similar concept. Khazael haaaates the screaming and crying and begging and tries to alleviate it by looking and acting as non-threatening as possible. While he can't say opening with a bad joke is an effective hello to a freshly dead soul, sometimes it's enough to distract them out of whatever funk they're in or make them laugh and that makes it worth it. As routine as all of this is to him, training Xai has been a fresh reminder of how fragile mortals are and how much extra care they need. He may have gotten a little complacent for a while, shhhh.


• Being Alone: Khazael has always been an independent kinda guy and enjoyed some time alone, but he always had Michael whenever he needed him, and he was not prepared for how different being alone was without that connection. Now it was just kind of... overwhelming. He doesn't really know if he's capable of creating another bond as deep as with Michael and he doesn't even know if he wants to?? Would that be a betrayal to his memory???? Khazael doesn't know. He just knows being alone too long makes things Bad but making friends is hard. Bleh.

Ephriel
Mmmmmmmmm, Khazael doesn't like acknowledging Ephriel's existence. A couple centuries ago while trying to cheer Michael up, a prank miiiight have gone too far and Ephriel miiiight have gotten caught in the crossfire and a few souls miiight have gotten lost. There is also a strong possibility that Khazael panicked and pinned the entire thing on Ephriel who was then stripped of his post and condemned to only watching over the purgatorial souls awaiting judgement in the underworld. He seemed a little mad about that and Khazael hopes he never runs into him again, hahaha......

Aaryn
The first (non-reaper) immortal Khazael had run into in a long time!!! It's so lonely being stuck with mortals who die in three seconds that he immediately started badgering the muse angel for company, much to Aaryn's chagrin. Still, Aaryn warmed up to him eventually and now they're buds! Mostly! Aaryn just needs to chill the workaholic thing a little, that's all.

Silvabel
Xai's weird friend (?). That in and of itself is strange considering Xai's whole deal, but there's something odd going on with her to the extent that even her soul feels off and he can't figure out what it is. It's kinda suspicious, but she doesn't seem to like him so maybe he can lightly antagonize her enough that she'll let something slip. :)
